I used to think that everything in life was reciprocal; Whatever you give, you will get back someday. I believed in Karma; What goes around, comes around. Maybe I still do.
But right now, I'm pretty exhausted of helping and giving but never receiving. People never remember the good things you do. Not for long anyway. I'm not even asking for the deeds to be remembered. A simple gratitude in return, or even just a polite acknowledgement would be good. I'm definitely not asking for a lot.
In other words, I'm stripping the privileges. I have more important things on my plate than to care and think for people who don't give a shit about anything or even themselves.
